Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen: "Like Ukraine... We Will Not Succumb to Pressure"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen stated, "Taiwan will not succumb to pressure like Ukraine," according to a report by Taiwan's Central News Agency on the 10th.
According to the report, President Tsai delivered a keynote speech via video at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit hosted by the Democracy Alliance Foundation in Denmark, saying, "Democracy may not be perfect, but it has become a non-negotiable part of the Taiwanese people's identity."
President Tsai also said, "I am very pleased to share experiences of fighting against authoritarian forces, and we are ready to deepen cooperation with like-minded countries to uphold the order of the free democratic world," adding, "Trade and investment cooperation will remain a key pillar in jointly resisting and responding to authoritarianism."

Furthermore, she stated, "Taiwan's democracy, like many European countries, was won through the sacrifices of all who resisted authoritarian rule," and expressed confidence that "although great difficulties lie ahead, by firmly believing in the values of democracy and freedom and uniting, we will ultimately achieve our goals."
