Gwangju Buk-gu Hosts 'May First Neighborhood Flea Market' as Part of Urban Regeneration New Deal Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 8th that it will hold the ‘May First Neighborhood Flea Market’ in collaboration with Chonnam National University from the 9th to the 10th along Sinheung-ro (from Ministop Sinheung Branch to Moa Apartment direction).
The May First Neighborhood Flea Market, one of the university town-type urban regeneration New Deal projects, is an event where Chonnam National University, young entrepreneurs, startups, and residents participate to promote and sell various cultural products.
At the event site, about 30 sales booths operated by small business owners, youth, and eco-friendly craft manufacturers will be set up. Since the theme is ‘Zero Waste (minimizing household waste),’ upcycled products and natural material household goods will be sold.
In addition, diverse experience programs such as zero waste activities (making diffusers and eco-bags) with urban regeneration supporters, flower arranging, kalimba, and youth policy booths will be held.
Cultural and artistic performances including gayageum, percussion, vocal, and bubble and balloon shows will also take place.
Director Moon said, “This event was prepared to help the local economy and commercial district recovery together with Chonnam National University and residents,” adding, “We will continue to organically cooperate with the local community to promote urban regeneration projects.”
