Goyang~Eunpyeong Line and Gangdong~Hanam~Namyangju Line Promotion Accelerates... 3.5 Trillion Won Scale
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 9th that it has commenced a feasibility study and basic plan establishment service for the 'Goyang Eunpyeong Line' and 'Gangdong Hanam Namyangju Line' metropolitan railway projects, which are being promoted as part of the metropolitan transportation improvement measures for the 3rd phase new towns, Goyang Changneung District and Namyangju Wangsuk District.
The Goyang Eunpyeong Line is a project to construct a 13.9 km metropolitan railway (total project cost 1.41 trillion KRW) starting from Saejeol Station on Seoul Subway Line 6, passing through Changneung New Town, and reaching Goyang City Hall.
It is expected to play a central role in the metropolitan transportation network connecting the Goyang City area and Seoul City through connections with Seoul Subway Lines 3 and 6, and GTX-A.
The Gangdong Hanam Namyangju Line is an extension project of the Seoul Subway Line 9 Phase 4 construction project (Dunchon-dong to Gangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, scheduled to open in 2027).
This project connects Gangdong-gu in Seoul to Misa District in Hanam City, Namyangju Wangsuk New Town, and Jinjeop 2 District over 18.1 km (total project cost 2.1032 trillion KRW).
It is expected to improve transportation convenience for residents of Namyangju Wangsuk New Town and promote development in the northeastern Gyeonggi region by establishing transfer systems with the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, Gyeongchun Line, GTX-B, and Jinjeop Line.
This basic plan establishment service is led and implemented by Gyeonggi Province, the project executor, and after approval of the basic plan by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee), it is scheduled to be finalized by the second half of 2023.
Through this basic plan establishment service, transportation demand forecasting, calculation of appropriate facility scale, route selection, construction and operation plans will be developed, with a focus on improving transportation services for new town residents.
