[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Gijae, the elected mayor of Yangcheon-gu, visited Sinyeong Market in Sinwol 1-dong on the 7th as his first step in addressing public concerns. This visit aimed to assess the current situation of small business owners and market merchants struggling with soaring living costs and to fulfill his promise to revisit made during the election period.
Before visiting the market, at 3 p.m., he launched the Yangcheon-gu mayoral transition committee to concretize the vision for the 8th term of the Yangcheon-gu administration and prepare a roadmap for the implementation of campaign pledges.
On the same day, Mayor-elect Lee appointed former acting mayor of Yangcheon-gu, Lee Yong-hwa, as the chairperson of the transition committee, and former president of the Korea Transport Institute, Lee Chang-woon, as the vice-chairperson. He also appointed 13 experts in various fields as transition committee members to review 82 campaign pledge projects.
Mayor-elect Lee stated, “The role of the transition committee is to create a map for the path Yangcheon-gu should take over the next four years and to set milestones at key points so that I, as mayor, do not lose my way.” He added, “For the ideal projects among the pledges I proposed, please find practical ways to implement them, and for projects that can embody greater value and vision, please develop the plans through discussion.”

The 8th term Yangcheon-gu mayoral transition committee will form subcommittees and elect subcommittee chairpersons at the plenary session on the 10th. Starting from the 13th, they will conduct a thorough review of the relevant departments and campaign projects under the jurisdiction of the district office and prepare execution plans.
