Kim Dong-yeon Joins Transition Committee Recommended by People Power Party... Also Promotes Cooperation Pledge
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] An individual recommended by the People Power Party will participate as a member of the transition committee for Gyeonggi Province Governor-elect Kim Dong-yeon, who is affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea. Reasonable pledges proposed by the People Power Party during the election process will also be promoted as 'cooperative governance pledges' within the transition committee.
Governor-elect Kim and Kim Seong-won, chairman of the People Power Party’s Gyeonggi Provincial Party, held a meeting on the 7th and agreed on these matters.
The agreement was reached after Governor-elect Kim and Park Jeong, chairman of the Democratic Party’s Gyeonggi Provincial Party, visited the People Power Party’s Gyeonggi Provincial Party office to propose participation in the transition committee, and Chairman Kim consented.
After the meeting, Governor-elect Kim stated, "Chairman Kim readily agreed to operate the transition committee including several individuals recommended by the People Power Party," adding, "We will form the transition committee with those recommended by the People Power Party and draft plans for provincial administration."
Governor-elect Kim explained, "Although the transition committee’s organization has not been fully finalized, we are forming a special committee for the establishment of Northern Gyeonggi Province and a special committee for promoting cooperative governance pledges (tentative name). The cooperative governance pledges committee will jointly promote reasonable and desirable pledges that are either common pledges between the Democratic Party and candidates from the People Power Party or the Justice Party, or even if not common pledges, those that are valid," adding, "Chairman Kim also agreed to the cooperative governance pledges committee."
Governor-elect Kim continued, "I came up with the idea to visit the People Power Party’s Gyeonggi Provincial Party office," emphasizing, "This is to start cooperation from a low level, and the goal and direction are for the province and its residents."
Regarding this, Chairman Kim said, "I expressed that I would work together regardless of party lines for the development of the province and the happiness of its residents, and also said that I would assist and collaborate on many matters related to provincial administration if they contribute to the province’s development."
Chairman Park stated, "I have always met with Chairman Kim and had good conversations," and added, "I believe that with the People Power Party’s support, we can do better for the happiness of the province’s residents."
