Naju City to Hold 'Traditional Experience Program' at Naju Hyanggyo on the 12th
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Han-hyuk Lee] Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it will hold ‘Play with Hyanggyo,’ a weekend traditional experience program for the whole family, at Naju Hyanggyo on the 12th.
‘Play with Hyanggyo’ is a 2022 Living Hyanggyo and Seowon Cultural Heritage Utilization Project sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration, offering traditional etiquette, culture, and various play experiences.
This program will be held three times from 1 PM to 6 PM at Dongikrang of Naju Hyanggyo, where participants can learn traditional tea etiquette and tasting methods through the ‘Tea Ceremony Experience.’
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by submitting a ‘Google Form’ in advance via the official SNS (Band) of Naju Hyanggyo Gubeunsonamu School.
The participation fee is 5,000 KRW, and sessions start at 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, and 3:30 PM with five families each.
In addition to the tea ceremony experience, various side programs such as a snack corner (participation fee 1,000 KRW) where participants can make bread pizza, traditional games, storytelling grandmothers, and Hyanggyo explanations will be operated inside the Hyanggyo.
A city official said, “We hope that the tea ceremony experience will be an opportunity for children to cultivate proper character and learn about traditional etiquette,” adding, “We hope it will be a meaningful time to enjoy weekend leisure and family harmony.”
Meanwhile, Naju Hyanggyo Gubeunsonamu School is hosted by the Naju City History and Tourism Division, sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration and Naju Hyanggyo, and commissioned and operated by Dongshin University Lifelong Education Center.
