Gwangju Seo-gu Launches 'June Climate Action Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is launching the ‘June Climate Action Project’ to build a consensus on carbon neutrality centered on residents and villages and to encourage participation in daily practice.
According to Seo-gu on the 3rd, this Climate Action Project was planned to establish a continuous culture of practicing carbon neutrality at homes, schools, companies, and more by setting monthly themes related to climate action and carrying out various campaigns, education, and promotional activities.
To this end, an image exhibition encouraging vegetarianism will be held in the lobby on the first floor of the district office from the 7th to the 9th to commemorate Environment Day.
Seo-gu plans to conduct education using videos and images under the theme ‘Diet that Changes the World, Vegetarianism’ during meetings and various events held at the Dong Administrative Welfare Centers and the district office.
In addition, vegetarian recipes that can be easily followed at home will be produced in the form of card news and distributed on SNS, and cooking videos will also be posted on the YouTube channel so that many residents can watch and participate.
Furthermore, to promote the spread of a carbon-neutral culture among residents and realize carbon neutrality centered on villages and residents, Seo-gu plans to hold a ‘My Own Vegetarian Table’ event using the climate crisis challenge band in collaboration with the Seo-gu village network ‘Irak’.
A Seo-gu official said, “To realize the 2045 Carbon Neutral City Seo-gu, we will establish a voluntary practice base centered on villages to encourage all residents to easily participate in climate action in their daily lives. We will strive to form a consensus among residents and create a culture of greenhouse gas reduction in the region by implementing various carbon neutrality policies.”
