Police Take Tough Stance on Cargo Solidarity Strike... Deploy Veterans to Ports and Terminals
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The National Police Agency announced on the 3rd that it will respond strictly to illegal acts such as transportation obstruction by the Cargo Solidarity, which will begin a collective transportation refusal from midnight on the 7th.
The police will deploy personnel and strengthen 112 patrols at major logistics hubs such as ports, logistics terminals, and industrial complexes where illegal acts such as transportation obstruction and facility occupation by the Cargo Solidarity are expected.
If Cargo Solidarity union members forcibly commit illegal acts such as blocking entrances or damaging vehicles to obstruct the normal transportation of truck owners, on-site arrest will be the principle, and the ringleaders will be pursued and punished to the end.
Earlier, on the 1st, the police arrested three Cargo Solidarity union members on the spot on charges of obstruction of business for continuously obstructing the transportation of cargo vehicles entering the Daehan Steel factory in Gangseo-gu, Busan.
In addition, the police stated that illegal acts involving vehicles will be subject to judicial processing along with administrative measures such as suspension or cancellation of driver's licenses according to relevant laws.
