Participation in the Daegu Flower Expo at EXCO from the 3rd to the 6th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Agricultural Technology Institute is participating in the 13th 'Daegu Flower Expo,' held from the 3rd at Daegu EXCO, showcasing 15 new varieties including gerbera, chrysanthemum, and rose developed in-house, promoting the excellence of Gyeongbuk floriculture.
The exhibited items include 5 gerbera varieties such as 'Passion Pride,' a red small-flowered multi-flower type, 5 chrysanthemum varieties including 'Milky Endy,' a white single-flower early blooming type, and 5 rose varieties such as 'Burning Gold,' a cut rose with yellow-red bicolor and excellent heat adaptability.
Additionally, new flower varieties submitted by the Gyeongbuk Flower Producers Association will also be displayed.
The Gumi Flower Research Institute plans to widely promote the excellence of Gyeongbuk floriculture through the exhibition of new varieties at this expo, aiming to enhance the emotional well-being of city residents exhausted by COVID-19 and to expand flower consumption.
Shin Yongseup, Director of the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Technology Institute, stated, “Although the floriculture industry has somewhat contracted recently due to worsening domestic and international economic conditions, we will strive to develop and promptly distribute excellent varieties that are not inferior to foreign ones, providing great support to floriculture farmers.”
Hosted by Daegu City and organized by EXCO, this flower expo started in 2010 with an area of 3,872㎡ and has grown to 15,000㎡, making it the only event of its kind in Korea, now celebrating its 13th edition.
