Gyeonggi Convergence Town, Joint Safety Inspection... From June 2 to 9
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint safety inspection of the Gyeonggi Convergence Town, including the Gwanggyo New Government Building, from the 2nd to the 9th of next month.
This inspection follows the official commencement of operations at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Government Building starting on the 30th of this month. Through this inspection, the province will comprehensively examine construction sites under development within Gyeonggi Convergence Town, as well as pedestrian movement routes in the surrounding area.
Located at 186 Iui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City, Gyeonggi Convergence Town is a complex development project for a public business district including metropolitan administration and public institutions.
Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, Gyeonggi Library, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, and the Bank of Korea (Gyeonggi Headquarters) are scheduled to move in sequentially by 2024.
Among these, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Council have already completed their move-in, and due to the unique coexistence of users and construction workers, the prevention of safety accidents is being emphasized.
The inspection will be conducted as a public-private joint effort involving the Gyeonggi Province Construction Headquarters, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, private experts, and tenant institutions.
The main inspection items include ▲temporary fences around the Convergence Town, pedestrian hazards including construction site entrances and exits, and access control management ▲provision and wearing of safety protective gear, placement of construction machinery signalers, compliance with worker safety rules ▲measures against wind and flood damage such as slopes, retaining walls, temporary facilities, stormwater management, and prevention of major accidents including falls and overturns.
The province plans to immediately correct any issues identified during the safety inspection on site.
Han Dae-hee, head of the Gyeonggi Province Construction Headquarters, emphasized, "Since construction for tenant institutions will continue sequentially until 2024 even after Gyeonggi Province has moved in, we will do our best to manage safety so that both users and workers can complete the project without any safety accidents."
Meanwhile, the progress rates of Gyeonggi Convergence Town are ▲Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education 50% (completed December 2022) ▲Bank of Korea 38% (completed December 2022) ▲Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation 10% (scheduled completion December 2023) ▲Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation 5.5% (scheduled completion June 2024) ▲Gyeonggi Library (scheduled completion October 2024), among others.
