Gyeonggi Fire Department Provides 'Safety Management Consulting' at Samsung Pyeongtaek Plant
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters recently conducted a 'Public-Private Joint Safety Management Consulting' at Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek plant.
This consulting, led by the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, was planned to prevent safety accidents at workplaces in areas such as hazardous materials, harmful chemicals, construction, and terrorism, and to strengthen autonomous safety management at the workplace.
During the consulting, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters shared information with Samsung Electronics regarding hazardous materials safety management, legal amendments, and hazardous materials accident cases, and provided advice on the interpretation of technical standards for hazardous materials and fire-fighting facilities. Notably, pre-selected private expert committee members also participated in this consulting.
Previously, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters formed a pool of about 20 advisory committee members, including certified technicians and private experts, to secure consulting expertise.
Hong Geon-pyo, head of the Hazardous Materials Safety Team at the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, stated, "Hazardous materials accidents, which can easily lead to major incidents, are best prevented," and added, "We will make every effort to ensure that not a single hazardous materials accident occurs through continuous hazardous materials safety management consulting."
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to continuously conduct safety management consulting this year targeting workplaces that handle large quantities of hazardous materials.
