Park Jin "ASEAN hopes for close cooperation with IPEF"

View original imageAt the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Jongno-gu on the same day, Minister Park met with ambassadors from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, and Indonesia, saying, "We are pleased that several ASEAN countries are participating as members of IPEF," and added, "We hope for close cooperation with IPEF."
Launched on the 23rd under the leadership of the United States, IPEF includes Korea, Japan, and seven of the ten ASEAN countries: Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Minister Park mentioned the close relationship between Korea and ASEAN. He said, "Korea aims to strengthen strategic cooperation with ASEAN based on shared goals for greater peace, stability, and prosperity in the region," and emphasized, "The partnership with ASEAN will be a core pillar of Korea's Indo-Pacific strategic framework."
He added, "Korea's strong and upgraded policy toward ASEAN will stand out in the new regional strategy."
