Yoon Byung-tae Candidate's Campaign Committee: "We will not respond individually to forced colorism, linking to lawmakers, or allegations against family"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] The campaign headquarters of Yoon Byung-tae, the Democratic Party candidate for Mayor of Naju, issued a statement five days before the main vote and a few hours before early voting, claiming, "Reports of illegal entertainment by a specific candidate are continuously coming in from various places," and "Some concerned citizens are reportedly providing related materials to the Election Commission."
They also expressed concern, stating, "A very small number of political officials have been engaged in activities favorable to a specific candidate and have been reported for violating the Public Official Election Act, with the Election Commission investigating, creating a serious situation that shakes the foundation of democracy day by day."
They raised issues regarding the Central Election Commission's election management system and the passive response of the Naju Election Commission, urging, "The Central Election Commission must immediately take charge of election management in Naju."
The campaign headquarters of candidate Yoon Byung-tae pointed out that candidate Kang In-gyu "is being investigated by the Election Commission for 'false fact announcement' due to broadcasting and SNS posts falsely publicizing his military service issues and posting an 'SRF Agreement' banner."
They further pressured Kang In-gyu, an independent candidate, to "reveal the truth about the military-related suspicions, which arise every election and only increase doubts, and to fulfill his duty to the citizens as a politician who has served twice as mayor before the voting day."
Meanwhile, regarding Kang In-gyu's side's "unreasonable colorism, linking with members of the National Assembly, and raising suspicions about family members," the campaign declared, "We will not respond to each allegation individually and will focus on winning the election."
On the other hand, Kang In-gyu's Jinshim Camp posted a statement on the 23rd criticizing Democratic Party candidate Yoon Byung-tae for suspicions related to his work at the Blue House, allegations about wealth accumulation including his spouse, and the Democratic Party's identity, to which Yoon Byung-tae's side has not issued a separate explanation.
Additionally, according to an anonymous informant, the Naju Election Commission reportedly secured on the 26th on-site video suspected of illegal entertainment and has begun an investigation, with repercussions expected depending on the results.
