Oh Ha-geun, Candidate for Suncheon Mayor, Pledges to Eliminate Unnecessary Regulations
"I will change citizens' lives by abolishing all unnecessary regulations"
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 26th, Oh Ha-geun, candidate for Suncheon mayor, announced a groundbreaking pledge to abolish all unnecessary regulations.
He presented the regulation abolition card beyond mere deregulation to create a prosperous and happy Suncheon for its citizens.
As a representative example, he pointed to Dongcheon. It is a plan to reconsider the waterfront scenic area along Dongcheon.
The strategy is to transform Dongcheon into a magnificent river representing Korea and to attract the 10 million visitors of the 2023 International Garden Expo to stay in Suncheon.
Candidate Oh Ha-geun first revealed plans for open-air cafes along the Dongcheon riverside.
Through regulation abolition, the plan is to maximize spaces where tourists and citizens coexist, revitalizing the old downtown and Dongcheon.
Additionally, he promised a new transformation of Dongcheon, including expanded installation of nightscape lighting between Dongcheon and Suncheonman National Garden, creation of premium gardens with stories, open-air cafes, dancing musical fountains, and a zipline crossing Dongcheon from Jukdobong Park.
He also announced redevelopment of the aging residential complexes in the old downtown.
The plan aims not only to resolve urban hollowing through new apartment construction but also to accelerate the revitalization of commercial districts.
Oh Ha-geun, candidate for Suncheon mayor, stated, “The future growth engine of Suncheon lies in the old downtown,” and expressed strong determination for revitalizing the old downtown by saying, “I firmly oppose urban expansion to the outskirts while neglecting the old downtown.”
