Damyang-gun Conducts Visiting 'Tick-borne Infectious Disease Prevention Campaign'
Minimize Skin Exposure, Use Repellents, Promote Compliance with Prevention Guidelines
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 25th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 26th that it conducted a ‘Visiting Tick-borne Infectious Disease Prevention Campaign’ targeting enrolled students and residents at the festival venue of Jeonnam Provincial University.
This campaign was organized to raise awareness of the risks of tick-borne diseases in preparation for increased outdoor activities among local residents and students, and to promote the importance of prior prevention through the distribution of repellents.
Representative tick-borne diseases such as Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) and Tsutsugamushi disease show symptoms such as high fever, chills, muscle pain, and rash within 1 to 2 weeks after being bitten by a tick. Since the first death from SFTS occurred this year, special caution is required when engaging in outdoor activities.
