[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Woo-seok] A woman in her 60s who cared for her severely disabled daughter for 30 years, killed her and then attempted suicide has been arrested by the police.
On the 24th, the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon announced that they had urgently detained and were investigating a woman in her 60s identified as A on suspicion of murder.
A is suspected of giving a large amount of sleeping pills to her 30-year-old daughter B at an apartment in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, the previous afternoon, causing her death. Afterwards, A attempted an extreme act by taking sleeping pills herself but was found by her returning son C and survived.
A reportedly told the police, "I gave sleeping pills to my daughter and tried to die together." On the way to the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) on the 25th, when asked by reporters, "Why did you give sleeping pills to your daughter?" she tearfully replied, "I'm so sorry. Because we couldn't live together..."
A had cared for B, who is classified as a grade 1 severe brain lesion disabled person, for over 30 years, and it was investigated that B was recently diagnosed with terminal colon cancer.
