The vivid voices from the field, active policy reflection ... Ulsan Office of Education forms a consultative body with full participation of educational welfare officers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the 25th, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held the 'Ulsan Education Welfare Workers Project Operation Council' with the participation of 50 education welfare workers.
The council was established as a regular communication body to efficiently operate the Education Welfare Priority Support Project and to build a cooperative system.
The council is divided into the General Council and the Subcommittee Council.
The General Council consists of 50 members, including 2 education welfare coordinators from the Education Support Office, 18 education welfare workers, and 30 education welfare workers from priority support schools under the Education Welfare Priority Support Project. The Subcommittee Council is composed of three groups by school level (elementary, middle, and high school), each with 7 to 13 members.
At the council, representatives for each subcommittee were elected, and operational plans for the council were discussed. They held discussions on topics such as "What programs are linked to the curriculum?" and "How do you conduct home visits?" Participants also communicated and shared the direction of education welfare policies.
The Education Welfare Priority Support Project has been implemented since 2006 to reduce educational disparities by supporting education welfare workers and budgets in schools with many students in economically, socially, and culturally vulnerable conditions.
Since March 2021, the Education Welfare Safety Net Center has also been operated to support vulnerable students in schools without assigned education welfare workers.
The Ulsan Office of Education is realizing "Ulsan Education that does not give up on a single child" by identifying and supporting students in the blind spots of education welfare.
