Dongwha Pharm to Rebuild 16-Story Building After Demolishing Sunhwa-dong Headquarters
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Dongwha Pharmaceutical announced on the 25th that it will demolish its current headquarters located in Sunhwa-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and begin construction of a new headquarters on the site in September, with completion scheduled for December 2024.
The new headquarters will be built with 5 basement floors and 16 above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 15,818㎡. Gansam Architects will be responsible for the design, and CJ Logistics Construction Division will handle the construction.

Dongwha Pharmaceutical was founded in 1897 as Dongwha Yakbang, the predecessor of Dongwha Pharmaceutical, in a hanok at 5 Sunhwa-dong. In 1966, a three-story building was newly constructed and used as a factory and headquarters. It was also the place where Gas Hwalmyungsoo was first produced. After expanding the headquarters to four floors in 1986, this reconstruction was decided after 57 years. The second floor of the new building will be used as a space shared with the local community through donation and leaseback.
