Samsung Electronics Collaborates with Red Hat on Next-Generation Memory Software Development
Second Half SMRC Opening... Providing Optimal Environment for Next-Generation Memory Solution Development and Evaluation

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung Electronics announced on the 25th that it has agreed to mutually cooperate with open-source supplier Red Hat on software technology related to next-generation memory.
The two companies will collaborate on software development and ecosystem expansion related to next-generation memory solution technologies such as NVMe SSD, CXL memory, computational memory and storage, and fabric. Additionally, they will cooperate to ensure that Samsung Electronics' memory software technology can be supported on open-source software including Red Hat Linux, and will jointly conduct verification and promotion.
Furthermore, the two companies plan to actively cooperate in developing software solutions that include technologies utilizing next-generation memory such as CXL and PIM for stable storage and processing of rapidly increasing data, as well as fabric that virtualizes multiple memory and storage units.
Samsung Electronics plans to open the 'Samsung Memory Research Cloud (SMRC)' in the second half of the year, providing an optimized environment for the development and evaluation of next-generation memory solutions. SMRC offers an environment to analyze the optimal combination of hardware and software of customer servers equipped with Samsung Electronics' next-generation memory and to evaluate performance.

Yong-chul Bae, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Memory Business Division, said, "Through this cooperation with Red Hat, we expect to establish a stable ecosystem along with technology standardization not only in hardware but also in software in the next-generation memory field," adding, "We will expand cooperation with various industry partners through this collaboration to create new customer value."
