Cultural Heritage Administration Partially Opens Interior of Cheongwadae Main Building
Mugunghwa Room, Inwang Room, Chungmu Room, Presidential Office, and VIP Reception Room, etc.
The Cultural Heritage Administration's Blue House Public Opening Promotion Team announced on the 24th that starting from the 26th, some parts of the interior of the Blue House main building will be opened to the public. This is the central space of the Blue House used for presidential duties and receiving foreign guests. It was completed on September 4, 1991, blending traditional and modern elements. The roof is covered with about 150,000 blue tiles, each boasting a durability of over 100 years.
The areas to be opened this time include the Mugunghwa Room, Inwang Room, and Chungmu Room on the first floor, as well as the presidential office and the foreign guest reception room on the second floor. The Mugunghwa Room was used by the First Lady for receiving foreign guests and as an office. The Inwang Room was mainly used for meetings, lunches, and dinners. The Chungmu Room is an annex located on the east side, where large groups gathered to receive appointment certificates and more. In front of the central staircase connecting to the second floor, Kim Sik's painting "Geumsugangsan-do," created during the construction of the Blue House main building, is displayed.
