The funding for the Forest of Tomorrow was fully raised through a 1% donation from the sales of No Brand tree-planting toilet paper. The National Forest Healing Center, completed in 2015, is a forest welfare complex. Emart will plant a total of about 1,800 trees including birch, Korean maple (Usan gorosoe tree), and cinnamon tree, and create a 340-meter palm mat forest trail along with signboards and rest areas.
Emart held a tree-planting event with employees and their families the day before. Until October, a total of 160 teams of Emart employees and their families will regularly participate in forest welfare volunteer activities, including weeding, pruning, forest maintenance activities, as well as plogging and picking up branches to maintain the forest trails.
Previously, Emart created a 500-meter "Emart Forest Trail of Tomorrow" at the Hoengseong National Forest Experience Center. This year, it plans to expand its activities to care for three forests including Yeongju National Forest Healing Center and Jangseong National Forest Experience Center with employees, practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
