[Seukon Exploration] Starting Today, Living a Godsaeng Life, 'Godsaeng Planning Office'
Exploring the GS25 Popup Store 'Gotsaeng Planning Office'
‘Gat-saeng’ means ‘a great and diligent life.’ Those who manage a tight schedule and never miss self-development are called ‘Gat-saeng-ers.’ For all the Gat-saeng-ers in this world, GS25’s ‘Gat-saeng Planning’ team opened a popup store in Seongsu-dong. Its name is Gat-saeng Planning Office! An editor who has been saying since May, ‘I failed this year, but next year I’ll really live a Gat-saeng life,’ and is only living the Gat-saeng life in words, visited the popup store in person.
GS25’s ‘Gat-saeng Planning’ is a project targeting the MZ generation, offering various products. Recently, they released collaboration products with popular brands and illustrators among the MZ generation, such as Knotted Milk, Bap Honey Jelly, and Choegosim Heart Jelly. Through SNS, they share the daily life of a virtual character ‘Kim Neneop,’ a Gen Z office worker, continuing communication with consumers.
The popup store ‘Gat-saeng Planning Office’ is designed with four spaces where you can peek into Neneop’s daily routine: an office, a pantry, a shopping street on the way home, and Neneop’s room.
Gat-saeng-er’s Office
The office where Neneop starts the day. Here, interesting products are planned and developed. Taking advantage of a moment when Neneop stepped away(?), we looked around his desk. The diary and calendar are packed with schedules, and the notebook for jotting down ideas contains Neneop’s blood, sweat, and tears for ingenious new product planning. On the computer, there were illustration files titled ‘Final,’ ‘Real Final,’ ‘Real Final Revision,’ and ‘Real Final Revision Copy,’ so realistic that you might think, ‘Is this not my computer?’ which naturally brought tears... no no laughter.
In the drawer next to the desk, various snacks from ‘Gat-saeng Planning’ made by Neneop are neatly arranged. There is also an intriguing book, presumably read whenever Neneop is upset, kept secretively inside.
Additionally, Neneop’s office has a ‘lunch menu recommendation’ voting zone and a space where stickers and postcards are freely shared. Various free goods with phrases that resonate with office workers, such as ‘I want to go home...’ which tugs at the hearts of those who miss home as soon as they arrive at work, ‘Do I have to do this and that?’, and ‘Should I quit?’ are prepared, so pick whatever your heart desires.
Small but certain horizontal... no, small but certain happiness, Pantry
Next is the pantry of the ‘Gat-saeng Planning Office’! This space is responsible for Neneop’s small but certain happiness. The highlight is that it uses a narrow leftover space like a real pantry. Many products from ‘Gat-saeng Planning’ released so far are neatly displayed on shelves. A pantry usage rule poster catches the eye, stating that small but certain happiness is okay, but ‘small but certain embezzlement’ (sohwakhoeng) is not allowed.
In Neneop’s pantry, you can receive stickers by participating in an SNS event. After joining the event, you can freely take three stickers from the shelves. Only three stickers are allowed, so ‘sohwakhoeng’ is absolutely prohibited!
A self-gift for living a Gat-saeng life! Shopping Street on the Way Home
On the way home, Neneop sometimes stops by a shop to give himself a gift for working hard all day. This is the ‘Gat-saeng Planning Office’ goods sales zone, filled with Neneop’s love for small and cute items.
The goods range from office supplies like pens, erasers, and memo pads to transparent cups suitable for use in the office. Limited edition goods collaborated with the popular illustrator ‘Amugaessi,’ known for retro designs, can also be purchased here. So, if I have these goods, does that mean I can become a Gat-saeng-er too?
A space for rest and recharge, Neneop’s Room
Lastly, the place to visit is Neneop’s room. This cozy and tidy space warmly welcomes Neneop, who has had a tiring day overwhelmed by work at the company. Here, Neneop rests with his pet fox ‘Mumu-ssi,’ plans side projects, or enjoys hobbies like exercising. On one side of the room is a desk and chair, and on the other side is a beautiful piano.
Neneop’s desk is decorated with props that could realistically be in a room: a diary, laptop, snacks for quick bites, losing lottery tickets, and this year’s bucket list, making it a perfect spot for taking a certification photo. Curious about what a Gat-saeng-er’s diary contains, I sneakily read Neneop’s diary and found very realistic entries like ‘Cute me has to endure.’
GS25’s popup store ‘Gat-saeng Planning Office’ is a trendy space that naturally blends various ‘Gat-saeng Planning’ products into the daily life of Kim Neneop, which any office worker can relate to. What stood out was that it doesn’t just promote products but aims to comfort, encourage, and communicate with countless Gat-saeng-ers living in this world through the daily life of the virtual character ‘Kim Neneop.’ For those curious about the ‘Gat-saeng Planning’ team, those who want to live a Gat-saeng life but only make daily resolutions, and those in need of comfort and healing, a visit is highly recommended. The popup store operates until June 12.
Gat-saeng, let’s go!
