Suncheonman Eco Village Youth Hostel to Resume Normal Operations Starting Next Month
The Nation's First Hanok Youth Hostel, an Eco-Friendly Accommodation Where You Can Fully Experience Hanok Ambiance
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that the Suncheonman Ecovillage Youth Hostel, which had suspended operations due to the impact of COVID-19, will reopen starting next month on the 1st.
The Suncheonman Ecovillage Youth Hostel, which halted operations from March 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, underwent remodeling during the closure period, including oil stain treatment, wallpapering, and flooring renovations to suit the ecological environment.
In particular, the existing electric panels were replaced with ondol (traditional Korean underfloor heating), transforming it into a healing space where visitors can fully experience the Hanok (traditional Korean house) ambiance.
The city has been operating the Suncheonman Ecovillage Youth Hostel, consisting of four Hanok buildings on a 9,684㎡ site with 20 rooms and 43 beds, to activate ecotourism and prepare for the increasing demand for tourist accommodations following the 2013 Suncheonman International Garden Expo.
Located near major tourist attractions such as Suncheonman National Garden, Suncheonman Wetland, and Suncheonman Job World, it has been used not only by youth groups for school trips and experiential learning but also by family tourists, with over 20,000 visitors annually nationwide before the suspension of operations.
A Suncheon City official stated, “The Suncheonman Ecovillage Youth Hostel is a place where visitors can experience and feel the ecological city of Suncheon with bird songs during the day and insect sounds at night, leaving nothing to be desired,” adding, “We will do our best to welcome guests so that visitors can feel relaxation and healing and have a comfortable trip.”
