Presidential Office: "First Lady Kim Keon-hee Briefly Greeted Biden at the Summit Dinner" [Korea-US Summit]
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Kim Keon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, is scheduled to briefly stop by the welcome dinner hosted by President Yoon on the evening of the 21st to greet U.S. President Joe Biden.
A presidential office official said in a briefing that morning, "(Mrs. Kim) will visit the venue before the dinner to briefly exchange greetings with President Biden and then leave. It will be a very simple process." However, the official added, "She will not attend the dinner."
The official explained the reason for her absence from the dinner, saying, "It was originally decided that she would quietly support (her husband), and since no special official schedule was planned from the start, she probably did not think it necessary to attend the dinner."
Regarding the meeting location with President Biden, the official added, "It is difficult to know whether it will be at the entrance of the dinner venue or at a reception area beforehand."
Since Jill Biden, wife of President Biden, is not accompanying him on this Asia tour, it is understood that, following the principle of reciprocity in diplomacy, Mrs. Kim will also not participate in the schedule with President Yoon this time.
