Focus on Violations of Water Leisure Safety Act Such as Unlicensed Operation and Lack of Safety Equipment
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters announced on the 22nd that it will conduct a "Joint Crackdown on Hangang Water Leisure Activities" with the Korea Coast Guard in response to the peak season of active water leisure activities.
This crackdown will be intensively carried out for six months from May to October to prevent safety accidents and establish a safe water leisure order. The inspection items include whether there is unlicensed or intoxicated operation, wearing of safety equipment, compliance with registration and inspection obligations of water leisure equipment, and violations of safety management by water leisure operators and workers.
The Hangang Project Headquarters will conduct the joint crackdown with the Korea Coast Guard based on cooperation with related administrative agencies under the Water Leisure Safety Act, and plans to make every effort to prevent water safety accidents in the Hangang and foster a sound water leisure culture.
In addition, water leisure participants were urged to strictly follow usage rules such as slow speed near docks, mooring areas, and bridge piers, prohibition of nighttime water leisure activities (30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise), prohibition of threatening navigation, and wearing safety equipment.
