Kim Hak-dong, Vice Chairman of POSCO, Honored with Global Quality Management Award
Awarded the '2022 Global Quality Management Leader' by the Quality Management Society
Recognized for Advancing Quality Standard Systems and Transitioning to Low-Carbon Eco-Friendly Business Structures
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] POSCO announced that Vice Chairman Kim Hak-dong received the ‘2022 Global Quality Management Executive Award’ on the 20th, hosted by the Korean Society for Quality Management. The award has been given since 1998 to executives who have significantly contributed to enhancing corporate competitiveness and advancing related industries through quality management activities.
Vice Chairman Kim advanced the quality, safety and health, and environmental management standard systems, preemptively reflecting market changes and customer requirements to strengthen product quality competitiveness. He also took the lead in establishing an eco-friendly industrial ecosystem through the transition to a low-carbon, environmentally friendly business structure. Kim said, “POSCO will enhance standard management centered on quality, safety and health, and environmental management systems and establish company-wide high-efficiency smart processes. Going forward, we will fulfill our social responsibilities by satisfying customers and coexisting with stakeholders based on safety and low-carbon eco-friendliness.”
POSCO stated that it is continuously promoting process quality innovation reflecting changes in the management environment and customer requirements. It conducts product quality inspections from a ‘customer-first’ perspective. As a result of these quality management efforts, POSCO has been selected as an excellent supplier by major global automobile companies such as Toyota and General Motors (GM). In March, it received the Quality Excellence Award from Honda Japan and a Quality Commendation from Toyota, respectively.
