Ping-Pong Game for Gangdong District Mayor Candidate Unification... Lee Jeong-hoon "Let's Unify the Polling Method" & Yang Jun-wook "Let's Meet"
Independent candidate Lee Jung-hoon proposes to Democratic Party candidate Yang Jun-wook to unify polling methods... Yang responds on the 18th, "Let's meet"... However, Lee questions the meaning of meeting and requests a clear answer
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Ahead of the Seoul Gangdong-gu mayoral election, divisions continue between the opposition candidates Yang Jun-wook and Lee Jung-hoon.
Independent candidate Lee Jung-hoon (current Gangdong-gu mayor) proposed on the afternoon of the 17th to Democratic Party candidate Yang Jun-wook a unification of candidates through a public opinion poll method, but no agreement has been reached.
On the 18th, candidate Yang responded to Lee's proposal not with a concrete answer but with a counterproposal to "meet first." It seems to be a calculation to discuss matters in person.
However, on the evening of the 18th at 10 PM, Lee expressed regret in a phone call with a reporter, saying, "I don't understand what the candidate of the largest party is afraid of that he cannot respond to the unification through a public opinion poll."
Lee criticized that while he is struggling as an independent candidate, candidate Yang, who belongs to the majority party, has not given an answer regarding the unification through a public opinion poll.
Lee added, "We met two days ago as well," and said, "We need to reach a concrete agreement; just meeting has no meaning."
If candidates Yang and Lee fail to unify, there is a possibility that People Power Party candidate Lee Soo-hee (lawyer) could benefit from the opposition vote split in the June 1 local elections.
