COVID-19 Overcome, MICE Industry in Full Swing... Daegu EXCO East Hall Exhibition Center Fully Operational 2 Years After Opening
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Daegu EXCO has entered a full operation system just two years after the exhibition hall opened. EXCO expects to achieve better results than anticipated.
Since the opening of the East Hall in April last year, EXCO secured 30,000㎡ of exhibition space on the first floor and held 115 exhibitions this year.
As a result, the integrated operation rate of the East and West Hall exhibition spaces has been raised to 53%, signaling results beyond expectations.
This is double the number of exhibitions held in 2019, which was the highest record since EXCO’s opening in 2001, with 63 exhibitions.
It is known that it usually takes about seven years on average to achieve an operation rate of over 50%, which is the standard for expansion and normalization of exhibition halls nationwide.
On the other hand, EXCO achieved an integrated operation rate of over 53% just two years after the opening of the East Hall, showing a very rapid growth trend beyond normalization of the exhibition hall, playing a leading role in the development of the regional MICE industry.
EXCO has set aggressive goals of 30 billion KRW in sales, 300 million KRW in net profit, and an integrated operation rate of over 50% this year, and is confident in achieving them.
EXCO strengthened customer service and developed new growth engine industries into exhibitions, launching a record-high 10 new exhibitions hosted by EXCO this year.
In particular, attention is being paid to the fact that large-scale exhibitions from the Seoul metropolitan area have relocated to Daegu after the facility expansion.
The International Steel and Nonferrous Metals Industry Exhibition, which was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, was co-hosted last year by the Seoul exhibition organizer and EXCO and held at the East Hall exhibition space.
This year, 115 exhibitions are scheduled at EXCO, filling the year with a steady exhibition schedule that makes the term ‘exhibition off-season’ meaningless, and this is about four times more than the same period last year before the opening of the East Hall exhibition space.
It is pointed out that to further solidify EXCO’s industrial position, expansion of the insufficient conference rooms and transportation network is necessary.
With the expansion of conference rooms and the completion of the EXCO Line of the urban railway in 2028, strengthening transportation infrastructure, EXCO is expected to establish itself as the largest exhibition convention center in the southeastern region beyond being a specialized MICE facility.
