Jeju Chujado: 60-Year-Old Man Suspected of Brain Injury 'Urgently Transported'
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A man in his 60s suspected of brain damage was urgently transported by the Jeju Coast Guard from Chuja Island, Jeju City.
According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 17th, a report was received the previous day at 7:38 PM from the Chuja Health Center on Chuja Island, Jeju City, stating that Mr. A (male, in his 60s, resident of Chuja) showed slurred speech and paralysis symptoms in his right upper and lower limbs, suspected of brain damage, and needed transfer to a higher-level medical institution.
Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Coast Guard dispatched a 500-ton patrol vessel patrolling nearby waters and arrived in front of Shinyang Port, Chuja Island, at around 8:30 PM. They received the emergency patient Mr. A and guardian Mr. B, a total of two people, from the Chuja Police Substation coastal rescue boat and urgently transported them.
The Coast Guard arrived at Jeju Port at around 9:55 PM and safely handed them over to the waiting 119 ambulance team.
A Jeju Coast Guard official said, "We have swiftly transported a total of 10 emergency patients from Chuja Island this year," adding, "We will do our best to protect the lives of the people with an emergency response posture in preparation for emergency patients in island areas and at sea."
