The protagonist is trainee Kim Ji-woong, 244th class, affiliated with the Maryang Police Substation of Wando Maritime Police Station, West Sea Regional Maritime Police Agency.
On the 13th at around 9 p.m., trainee Kim, who was heading home, noticed a strange light near the road around the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Transmission Education Center in Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do.
Feeling something unusual, he stopped and looked around, discovering a charcoal briquette and a burning coal briquette next to a parked vehicle. Inside the vehicle was a woman, Ms. A, unconscious.
Trainee Kim woke Ms. A and reported to the 119 rescue team, assisting in transporting her to a nearby hospital. It was confirmed that Ms. A's life was not in danger.
Ms. A, in her early 30s, is known to have attempted an extreme act due to employment and financial difficulties, which saddened those around her.
Trainee Kim said, "It is natural for anyone to run toward an emergency situation," adding, "Currently, while receiving maritime police training, I have learned that the top priority is the lives and safety of the people."
In particular, trainee Kim has been recognized as a role model for valuing life, having previously discovered a homeless person in an emergency situation in Seoul and reported it to 119.
