Japan to Allow Small-Scale Tourist Visits Starting This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Japan will allow the entry of small groups of foreign tourists through package tours starting this month.
On the 16th (local time), Bloomberg News reported this, citing a statement from the Japan Tourism Agency. Until now, foreign tourists found it difficult to enter Japan during most of the COVID-19 pandemic period through package products.
The Tourism Agency stated that travelers who have received three doses of vaccination in the United States, Australia, Thailand, or Singapore and have medical insurance can travel in small groups.
For group package tours, a pre-determined itinerary is required, and travel agency staff must accompany the group. The government plans to reopen Japan to tourists this summer, and local media reported that preparations are underway to accept more tourists in June.
