[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Kim Soyoung, a professor in the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission. The newly appointed Vice Chairman Kim expressed her commitment to fully implementing the financial administration reform tasks.
President Yoon Seok-yeol appointed Professor Kim Soyoung as the Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission on the 17th.
Vice Chairman Kim said upon her inauguration, "At a critical time when domestic and international financial risks are expanding and the overall economic and financial situation is difficult, I will fulfill my duties with extraordinary determination as the Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission." Professor Kim, who was active in the Economic Subcommittee 1 of the Presidential Transition Committee, graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University and earned her master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Yale University in the United States. After serving as a professor at Korea University, she moved to Seoul National University as a professor in the Department of Economics in 2009. She has held positions such as director of the Korean Economic Association, advisor to the Bank for International Settlements, and secretary general of the Korean Economic Association.
