Kim Hojin, Democratic Party Candidate for Jeonnam Provincial Assembly, Announces 10 Major Pledges Including Eupsung Area Convention Hotel Development
Specialized MICE Business and Historical Culture Brand Creation "Bukjeok Bukjeok Naju-ro"
“Young Sensibility Patch” Sparkling Pledge Draws Attention... Edu-Metaverse Study Abroad Platform
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Kim Hojin, the Democratic Party candidate for Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member (Naju City District 1), announced 10 major pledges on the 17th, including the creation of an eco-friendly traditional convention hotel.
Unlike other candidates running for metropolitan assembly elections who have made vague "grand narratives," he carefully examined feasibility and refined related pledges. He explained that rather than unconsidered "patchwork policies," he personally experienced various sites to discover "pragmatic policies."
The "young politician" Kim's key message is, "I will not engage in vote-buying through reckless promises."
As his first pledge, Kim proposed attracting an "eco-friendly traditional convention hotel" to serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local commercial district.
He plans to take the lead in attracting investment for this facility in the millennium-old Naju Eupseong area, aiming to transform it into the "bustling Naju" he has made his slogan.
The goal is to specialize the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry by hosting over 500 international cultural and artistic events, public institution seminars, academic conferences, and workshops annually, thereby creating a brand as a historic and cultural central city.
In the era of carbon zero, by linking eco-friendly wooden landmark buildings and sustainable hub facilities, it is expected to generate synergy effects and become a "stay tourism city" that absorbs tourism demand from neighboring cities.
As part of the "bustling Naju" initiative, he also proposed real estate measures to reduce loan interest burdens for youth, newlyweds, and multi-child families.
By coordinating with city and county governments on housing policies currently implemented in Jeonnam Province, he promises to support up to 300,000 KRW in monthly interest and double the support period for families with newborns?a "generous promise."
Accordingly, it is expected to prevent further population outflow in Naju, which has been classified as a depopulation risk area, and alleviate difficulties in securing housing.
He also proposed establishing a "convergent edu-metaverse study abroad" platform to eliminate spatial inequality, not just to meet housing demand.
The metaverse, one of the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, refers to a digital virtual reality space.
In this space, students can create their own avatars (characters) and enjoy "advanced communication" with professors and friends, experiencing "online campus life."
If realized, even rural areas of Naju will be able to access high-quality online lectures from Ivy League universities such as Harvard and Princeton in the U.S., enabling early discovery of local talent and maximizing domestic and international linked development.
Kim pledged to reduce the economic burden on farmers by expanding high-pressure washing and cleaning facilities at agricultural machinery rental centers, supporting cleaning personnel, and implementing an agricultural machinery auction system to improve the farming environment.
Despite the sharp increase in those suffering from "farmer's syndrome," an occupational disease among farmers, as society ages, there is almost no institutional support to back this up.
He emphasized that by creating a "Farmer's Syndrome Support Ordinance" and expanding pain care medical equipment in public health centers, he will "ease the pain of farmers, a key pillar of Jeonnam's economy."
Additionally, Kim proposed pledges including ▲ constructing fuel cell power plants in rural farming and fishing villages where city gas supply is difficult ▲ establishing a medical institution cooperation system to guarantee health rights for people with developmental disabilities and their caregivers ▲ providing space for emerging artists through the "The Dream Gallery" ▲ building digital heritage of the Mahan cultural area ▲ and reinforcing educational infrastructure for the Jeonnam-type high school credit system.
