View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] Ha Dae-seong, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongbuk Province, attended the Georgia state government visit and the General Assembly of the Federation of Korean-American Chambers of Commerce in the U.S. from the 12th to the 21st as his first overseas business trip since COVID-19. He discussed cooperation measures between local governments and sought to open export routes for regional small and medium-sized enterprises.
On the morning of the 13th local time, he held consecutive meetings with key officials including Avi Turano, Deputy Secretary of Commerce of the Georgia state government, and Corinne Marsik, in charge of international relations.
At this meeting, they exchanged opinions on investment attraction following the airport opening and regional economic development, proposed youth exchanges, and promised continuous exchanges between Gyeongbuk Province and Georgia in the future.
That afternoon, he appeared on Atlanta radio to promote Gyeongbuk’s tourism resources, the investment environment for foreign companies in the region, and the progress of the new airport project, highlighting key provincial policies.
The next day, on the 14th, he attended the General Assembly of the Federation of Korean-American Chambers of Commerce in the U.S., an economic organization representing 1.5 million Korean-American businesspeople.
He expressed gratitude to Hwang Byung-gu, President of the Federation, who plays a pivotal role in protecting the rights of Korean-American businesspeople and serving as a foothold for local companies entering the U.S. market, as well as to Lee Kyung-chul, Senior Vice President of the Atlanta region, and other Korean-American businesspeople attending the assembly for their dedication and their committed role in opening export routes for local export companies.
He noted that once the integrated new airport opens in 2028, it will be possible to visit Gyeongju or Andong quickly and conveniently, and exchanges between regional export companies and U.S. businesspeople will become more active, expressing a shared intention for continuous exchange and cooperation.
Hwang Byung-gu, President of the Federation of Korean-American Chambers of Commerce in the U.S., promised, “We will continue to devote all efforts to protecting the rights of Korean-American businesspeople and compatriots,” and pledged, “We will actively support the mutual growth of regional export companies and Korean-American businesspeople in the U.S.”

Ha Dae-seong, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “Based on the discussions at the Overseas Advisory Committee and the General Assembly of the Federation of Korean-American Chambers of Commerce in the U.S., we will expand various projects for international exchange, trade and investment attraction, and youth overseas internship job creation,” adding, “Gyeongbuk will play a pivotal role in becoming not only the center of South Korea but also the center of the world.”
