Naju-si Holds Progress Report Meeting in Preparation for Government Joint Evaluation
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 17th, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that it held the '1st Progress Report Meeting for the 2023 Local Government Joint Government Evaluation' on the 16th.
The meeting was chaired by Acting Mayor Jeong Chankyun, with 24 department heads attending. They discussed the analysis of last year's underperformance reasons for 72 quantitative indicators and 20 qualitative indicators, this year's indicators and performance as of the end of April, and future plans to achieve targets.
The Joint Government Evaluation is a system established under Article 21 of the Government Work Evaluation Basic Act, where the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, together with central government ministries, evaluates the status of national delegated tasks, national subsidy projects, and major national policy implementations carried out by local governments.
The city focused on proactive measures to address areas where quantitative indicator targets were not met last year, such as the priority purchase rate of new technology (pilot) products (5%), efforts to support out-of-school youth (6%), and sustainable forest resource development (1%).
Additionally, to achieve qualitative indicator targets, the city plans to conduct external expert consulting and report meetings twice, in August and October, to discover excellent cases and prevent omission of outstanding policies by departments, while striving to secure financial incentives from Jeollanam-do.
As of last month, the city has achieved an average of 48.7% of the target for 72 quantitative indicators subject to joint evaluation management, and plans to hold three more progress report meetings to focus on improving performance.
A city official stated, "We hope that the major policy projects promoted this year will receive high evaluations and bear fruit, and we ask all departments to thoroughly analyze and prepare improvements for all indicators to do their best in performance management."
