KTX Military Personnel Discount Tickets Can Now Be Delivered via Text Message and KakaoTalk
As with regular tickets, it has become possible for family or friends to purchase discounted tickets for military service members on the app and send them via text message or KakaoTalk.
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 17th that "the ticket transfer service will be expanded to include military service members."
KORAIL offers a 10% discount on train fares to military service members including sergeants and below in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, as well as conscripted police officers and conscripted firefighters.
Previously, discounted tickets for military service members were only sold at station counters, but KORAIL improved the system so that they can be easily purchased through the mobile app 'KORAIL Talk.' As a result, the reservation share of KORAIL Talk accounts for 59% of total bookings, and the average daily number of users has more than doubled compared to before the improvement.
Goo Hyuk-seo, head of KORAIL's Passenger Marketing Department, said, "Based on the increasing trend of railway usage by military service members and feedback received, we have expanded the service to allow family members and others to purchase tickets on their behalf and transfer them."

Meanwhile, since last year, KORAIL has simplified the ticket transfer process, which was previously only possible between railway members, to allow transfers via text messages and KakaoTalk. Additionally, the reservation platform has been expanded so that tickets can be purchased without separate membership registration, as long as users have apps like Naver or KakaoTalk.
