Jung In-hwa, Gwangyang Mayor Candidate, Announces Rural Revitalization Pledges Including Youth Farmer Development
Creating a Livable Rural Community Where Youth Can Thrive
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Jeong In-hwa, an independent candidate for mayor of Gwangyang, announced on the 15th a pledge to revitalize rural areas, including fostering young farmers.
Candidate Jeong stated that to create a livable rural area where young people can settle, he will promote ▲ the operation of a rural settlement program for young returnee farmers ▲ fostering youth-centered smart advanced agriculture ▲ nurturing full-time farmers of high-income crops (horticulture, fruit trees) ▲ fostering young successors in livestock farming: establishment of livestock complexes ▲ development of a success project for young farmers.
Candidate Jeong also presented measures to activate microbial agriculture, promising ▲ establishment of a production base for functional organic agricultural products ▲ strengthening microbial distribution ▲ development of plum wine, plum vinegar, and plum yogurt ▲ development of plum feed and plum compost ▲ support for theorization and commercialization of plum products developed by the private sector (such as outsourcing).
Candidate Jeong also plans to support the establishment of income crop production bases by creating retention ponds and devising countermeasures against saltwater damage in Jinsang Cheongamtteul, Jinwol Jungsum, and Osatteul.
Candidate Jeong proposed measures to protect beekeeping farms, including support for beekeeping farms and countermeasures against damages to beekeeping farms in accordance with the purpose of the Beekeeping Industry Act.
Additionally, Candidate Jeong said, “I will focus on fostering income crops such as plum, zucchini, iceberg lettuce, chwinamul, and persimmon, and also promote the construction of an agricultural hall, resolve the Bitgreen plum issue, and revitalize the Seomjingang freshwater clam industry.”
