Gyeonggi Fire Department's 'Naeryeojuseyong Campaign' Urges Restraint on Non-Emergency Reports
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is attracting attention by launching the "Naeryeojuseyong Campaign," which urges restraint in non-emergency calls to ensure rapid dispatch in urgent situations such as fires.
This campaign requests that in non-emergency cases, people report to the government civil complaint call center "110" instead of calling 119. The term "Naeryeojuseyong" means lowering your finger from the number 9 button on the phone keypad down to 0 to make a report, and also implies hanging up the phone for non-urgent calls.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to actively promote the "Naeryeojuseyong" campaign through promotional videos and card news containing examples of non-emergency reports via TV, radio, and G-Bus advertisements.
Additionally, a "Naeryeojuseyong" relay challenge campaign will be conducted targeting firefighters and residents of the province. Promotion through social networking services (SNS) will also be carried out concurrently.
Currently, comedian Jung Chan-min and Jo Soo-yeon, singer Park Ji-heon (from the group V.O.S), and actor Jo Yeon-woo have participated in the relay campaign promotional videos as talent donations.
Choi Byung-il, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, stated, "There are regrettable situations where urgent cases cannot be promptly handled due to processing non-emergency reports," and added, "We hope this campaign will spread nationwide to establish a proper reporting culture."
