Yeonggwang-gun Supports 'Sanitary Products for Female Adolescents'... Expanded to Ages 9-24

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it will expand the support for sanitary product purchase vouchers, previously provided to low-income female adolescents aged 11 to 18, to those aged 9 to 24.

The support targets recipients of basic livelihood security (living, medical, housing, education benefits), legally designated lower-income groups, and single-parent family support recipients.

Applications can be made by visiting the welfare team at the local eup/myeon office of the applicant’s residence or through the Bokjiro website and app. Support is provided up to 12,000 KRW per month and a maximum of 144,000 KRW per year via the National Happiness Card (BC, Samsung, Lotte, Shinhan, Kookmin) until the end of the year the applicant turns 24.

Those who were 19 years old in 2022 (born in 2003) and received vouchers last year can receive support without a separate application if they meet the income criteria. Those aged 20 to 24 who received vouchers before 2020 but had support discontinued due to age limits must reapply.

A county official said, “Through this expansion of eligible recipients, we hope to reduce the economic burden of purchasing sanitary products and help adolescents spend their youth brightly and healthily. We will continue to do our best to guarantee the health rights of more female adolescents.”
