The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul is conducting a complainant investigation against Kim Soon-hwan, Secretary General of the Committee for the Protection of the Common People’s Livelihood, who filed the charges, starting around 10 a.m. on the 13th.
Earlier, on the 20th of last month, the Committee for the Protection of the Common People’s Livelihood filed charges with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office against 17 Democratic Party lawmakers, including Kim Nam-guk, Choi Kang-wook, and Hwang Un-ha, who led the bill proposal, as principal offenders, and the remaining 155, including Floor Leader Park Hong-geun, as accomplices, on charges of conspiracy to commit rebellion, abuse of authority, and obstruction of official duties. The case was initially assigned to the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office and later transferred to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station.
Through the complaint, the committee claimed, "They deleted all legal grounds for the prosecution to investigate," and added, "After the adjustment of investigative rights between the police and prosecution, if even the prosecution’s investigation of six major crimes is abolished, the prevention and control functions against power-related corruption will disappear, yet they pushed forward unilaterally, ignoring even the possibility of unconstitutionality."
