Discontinued 'Wonsoju'... Resuming Sales Next Week as 'Gift Set'
'Temporary Sales Suspension' Wonsoju Resold as Gift Set
Online Mall Operations Resume from the 16th
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The sale of singer Park Jae-beom's 'Wonsoju (WONSOJU)', which was temporarily halted due to issues with oversold deliveries, will resume next week with a 'gift set'.
According to Wons Spirits, the manufacturer of Wonsoju, starting from the 16th, the 'Wonsoju Gift Set', consisting of two bottles of Wonsoju and two exclusive glasses, will be officially sold on the Wonsoju online mall. Although this gift set was revealed alongside the launch of Wonsoju, it has not been officially sold until now. As before, it will be sold in limited quantities on weekdays from 11 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. The exact sales quantity will be announced on official social media (SNS) before the sales start date.
A representative from Wons Spirits stated, "Single bottles will not be sold for the time being until sufficient stock is secured," adding, "We plan to sell directly through the online mall without any separate pop-up stores or launch events."
Wonsoju began full-scale online sales on March 31. It was limited to 2,000 bottles per day on weekdays from 11 a.m., causing an 'open run' phenomenon. However, on the 19th of last month, a system error on the online mall led to over 60,000 bottles being ordered?30 times the standard quantity. As a result, Wons Spirits suspended the operation of the online mall until the delivery of the excess orders was completed. Wonsoju, produced using a vacuum distillation method, takes about four weeks to manufacture, including the aging process in earthenware after distillation, which requires considerable time. Currently, as the delivery of the excess orders has progressed to some extent, the company has decided to resume operations.
