Incheon City Launches Service for Management and Maintenance Plans by Industrial Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is preparing differentiated management and maintenance plans for each industrial area.
The city announced on the 9th that it held a kickoff meeting for the "Incheon Industrial Area Basic Plan Establishment Project" to resolve the inefficiency caused by the mixed land use of industrial and residential purposes in industrial areas and to respond to the demand for new industrial spaces due to the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Out of the 67.88㎢ of industrial areas within the region, 28.72㎢ excluding port zones and industrial complexes are the target areas.
Based on the actual conditions and detailed status of industrial areas collected through the project, the city plans to establish type-specific management plans according to the characteristics of the industrial areas and formulate strategies for maintenance projects.
First, considering the aging of infrastructure and regional conditions, the industrial areas will be classified into ▲Industrial Maintenance Type ▲Industrial Management Type ▲Industrial Innovation Type, and management plans suitable for each area will be prepared.
The Industrial Maintenance Type refers to areas requiring maintenance due to poor infrastructure and aging industrial facilities, while the Industrial Management Type refers to areas with favorable conditions that require management considering regional circumstances such as fostering and revitalizing existing industries.
Additionally, the Industrial Innovation Type refers to areas where new industrial hubs need to be established on sites of relocated factories or public facilities, and where activation of surrounding industrial areas is necessary.
Along with this, the city plans to designate some industrial areas as maintenance zones to improve them systematically and in a planned manner.
Areas requiring maintenance and improvement of infrastructure and industrial facilities, as well as areas where industrial and residential uses are mixed and planned maintenance is necessary, will be designated as "Industrial Maintenance Zones." Areas that need to promote innovation in industrial areas, such as large-scale factory or public facility relocation sites, and foster them as regional hubs will be designated as "Industrial Innovation Zones."
In the Industrial Maintenance Zones, the city will promote the installation, maintenance, and improvement of support infrastructure and, if necessary, the construction of rental housing and public rental industrial facilities. In the Industrial Innovation Zones, mixed development of industry, commerce, residence, culture, and administration such as housing, research facilities, and startup facilities will be allowed to develop aging industrial areas.
This project is scheduled to be completed by September next year, and the city plans to use the results to establish long-term policy directions for the management and revitalization of industrial areas.
