Park Ji-hyun, co-chair of the Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee, said in her opening remarks at the committee meeting that "President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol must make the decision to discard nominee Han today if he does not want to create a country that abandons fairness and justice," adding, "Please proceed with nominations again with individuals who meet the general common sense of the people. If you do so, we will fully cooperate with the new government's administration."
She pointed out, "What angers me the most is that the person responsible for the investigation that devastated the family of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk created internationally scaled fake credentials crossing the US and UK and gifted them to his daughter," adding, "Han Dong-hoon's double standards are truly astonishing."
She continued, "In 2019, the Seoul National University Student Council held a candlelight rally opposing the appointment of former Minister Cho and declared a nationwide university protest statement condemning the appointment, saying 'Fairness and justice are dead.' The situation now is even more serious than then," she emphasized.
Yoon Ho-jung, co-chair of the Emergency Response Committee, also directly criticized, "He committed every possible corruption, including plagiarism of his child's thesis, ghostwriting, and paying money to get articles published," adding, "The 'Han Dong-hoon Castle' family has appeared, incomparable even to SKY Castle."
He then said, "We order him to immediately resign voluntarily in the name of the people."
Park Hong-geun, floor leader, said, "The attitude and level of nominee Han, who frequently sues the media that report verification and threatens legal action, are also at a serious level," adding, "Building credentials through parental advantage is a new standard of public scrutiny comparable to past privileged classes' military service corruption."
He stated, "The Democratic Party will thoroughly verify whether nominee Han is the right person for fair legal administrative duties for the people."
He also emphasized that legal responsibility should be held for other minister-level nominees. In particular, regarding Prime Minister nominee Han Duck-soo, he pointed out, "According to the law, the Prime Minister must receive the National Assembly's consent after the president's inauguration," adding, "The legal procedures have not even been carried out, yet there are already talks of obstruction."
