Fire at Furniture Store in Seokchon-dong, Songpa-gu Destroys 4 Shops... No Casualties Reported
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] At around 1:24 PM on the 6th, a fire broke out on the roof of a one-story furniture store in Seokchon-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, and was extinguished after about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
According to the fire department, the fire spread to nearby shops, completely destroying a total of four stores, and partially burning another four stores. Five merchants and two nearby citizens evacuated, resulting in no significant casualties. The fire department deployed 157 personnel and 42 pieces of equipment, and completely extinguished the fire at around 3:55 PM, about 2 hours and 30 minutes after the fire started.

The affected stores were mostly unauthorized buildings constructed on state-owned land. The narrow gaps between stores and the use of prefabricated panels vulnerable to fire reportedly worsened the damage. The fire department plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
