Yeohan-gu, Head of Trade Headquarters, Discusses Expansion of Ukraine Support with Trade Ministers of Major Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] On the 4th, Yeo Han-gu, head of the Trade Negotiations Bureau at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, attended a virtual meeting of trade ministers from major countries proposed by the UK government to discuss the current status and future plans for humanitarian and economic support to Ukraine.
The meeting was hosted by Anne-Marie Trevelyan, UK Secretary of State for International Trade. It aimed to seek solidarity and strengthened cooperation within the international community to support Ukraine's economic recovery, with participants including South Korea, Germany, France, Australia, and Japan.
At the meeting, Director Yeo stated, "South Korea views the current situation with grave concern as a responsible member of the international community," adding, "Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a serious violation of the United Nations (UN) Charter, and South Korea opposes the life-threatening violence and inhumane war."
He further emphasized, "South Korea is participating in Western-led financial sanctions and export controls against Russia and continues strong cooperation with the West through joint statements condemning Russia at the World Trade Organization (WTO)."

Director Yeo then shared details of South Korea's ongoing support for Ukraine since March, including ▲$40 million in humanitarian aid ▲non-military defense supplies covering 65 items ▲support for the entry and stay of Ukrainian refugees, explaining, "South Korea is considering ways to continuously expand support for Ukraine."
