[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] Wellrest, a company specializing in health functional foods, announced on the 4th that it has signed an agreement with the Korea Food Research Institute for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 2022 Food Functionality Evaluation Support Project.
Chongbaekjuk is developed in a highly absorbable form that promotes bone growth from 'Chongbaek,' derived from the roots and stems of green onions. It is a composition with traditional Korean medicinal efficacy recorded in folk remedies and the classical medical text Iseokgankyeongheombang (李石澗經驗方).
According to this agreement, the registration of Chongbaekjuk as a functional ingredient for height growth and its commercialization are expected to accelerate. Currently, there is only one individually recognized ingredient with functionality for children's height growth, and as of 2020, its production performance was approximately 46.1 billion KRW, ranking fourth among all individually recognized products.
