[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi-do has opened a 'Regional Child Protection Agency' in Suwon.
On the 4th, Gyeonggi-do announced that it held a plaque unveiling ceremony for the 'Gyeonggi-do Regional Child Protection Agency' (located on Paldal-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon), which operates to provide education and consultation for city and county child protection agencies and child abuse response personnel, as well as research and development of abuse prevention projects.
Earlier in January, the province reorganized the functions of the existing Gyeonggi-do Child Protection Agency and opened the 'Gyeonggi-do Regional Child Protection Agency' as a metropolitan-level management headquarters to serve as a hub for 18 city and county child protection agencies and to enhance public-private expertise in responding to child abuse.
The Regional Child Protection Agency will continuously perform integrated functions related to child abuse response, including ▲ professional education for child abuse response personnel and publication of standard guidelines ▲ support for emergency medical expenses and psychological treatment costs for abused children ▲ PTSD treatment support and legal consultation for child abuse response personnel ▲ operation of a regional psychological treatment center for abused families and child abuse response.
On the same day, ahead of the 100th anniversary of Children's Day, the Regional Child Protection Agency conducted a 'Child Rights Advocacy Campaign' around Everland to raise public awareness of child abuse and promote a culture of respecting children's rights.
