[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do, is focusing administrative efforts on rapid fiscal execution as a measure to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnated due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The city announced on the 4th that it recently held the "2022 First Half Rapid Execution Progress Report Meeting" at the main building's large conference room, chaired by Acting Mayor Jeong Chankyun.
Acting Mayor Jeong and the heads of departments, offices, and divisions checked the status of fiscal execution and discussed the causes and countermeasures for major underperforming projects during the meeting.
The target amount for rapid local fiscal execution in the first half of this year is 577.9 billion KRW, a 30.2% increase from last year's 443.8 billion KRW.
At the meeting, they focused on inspecting the progress of major projects worth over 100 million KRW (559 cases, totaling 516.4 billion KRW), which account for 89% of the 577.9 billion KRW rapid execution management target, emphasizing swift and strategic fiscal execution by the administration to revitalize the local economy.
The city plans to hold weekly focused inspections and report meetings on the progress of underperforming projects and execution status, aiming to exceed the target amount of 350.6 billion KRW by the end of June.
A city official stated, "Rapid fiscal execution complements private consumption and investment and stabilizes people's livelihoods, making its role more important than ever in overcoming the stagnant local economy and restoring daily life. We ask all departments to thoroughly inspect all ongoing projects under the responsibility of the heads of offices and divisions and to discover additional projects for execution to do their best in rapid budget execution."
