Gyeonggi Shinbo Donates to Sisterhood 'Pyeongtaek 2nd Fleet Command'
[Asia Economy (Pyeongtaek) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation donated 5 million won to the Republic of Korea Navy's 2nd Fleet in Pyeongtaek.
On the 3rd, Lee Min-woo, chairman of the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, visited the Navy 2nd Fleet Command in Pyeongtaek City and delivered a donation of 5 million won, which was voluntarily collected monthly by executives and employees, to the command. The donation will be used to improve the welfare of navy soldiers and to enhance facilities.
The Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation explained that this donation event was organized to boost the morale of navy soldiers who work hard for national security ahead of the 23rd anniversary of the First Battle of Yeonpyeong next month.
Previously, in 2010, the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation established a sisterhood relationship with the Navy 2nd Fleet, which defends the western sea and metropolitan coastal areas of South Korea.
Since the sisterhood agreement, the foundation has extended warm support every year, including ▲10 million won donation in 2010 ▲1,000 books and 5 million won donation in 2014 ▲10 million won donation in 2019 ▲about 5 million won donation in 2020 ▲6 million won donation in 2021.
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation is the only policy financial institution in Gyeonggi Province supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, taking the lead in creating social value within the local community.
In October last year, the foundation declared its ESG management vision as "A financial leader guaranteeing a happy tomorrow for all residents," and in February this year, it contributed 10.89 million won to the Office and Finance Ubuntu Foundation to resolve social inequality and polarization. In March, it visited the Gyeonggi branch of the Korean Red Cross to donate 10 million won for recovery from wildfires in Gyeongbuk and Gangwon provinces.
Recognizing these achievements in creating social value in the local community, the foundation was selected as a community contribution recognized institution by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in December last year.
Lee Min-woo, chairman of the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, emphasized, "The Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation was established to promote the welfare of ordinary people and revitalize the local economy. In addition to its primary role of restoring local economic vitality through financial support, we will strive for sustainable development of the local community by sharing love and gratitude throughout the community together with the Navy 2nd Fleet."
