Professor Lee Sujin of Jeonnam National University Hospital Awarded 'Basic Medical Science Young Scholar Award'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 2nd that Clinical Professor Lee Sujin recently received the 29th Basic Medical Science New Scholar Award at the 74th Regular General Assembly of the Korean Medical Association.
The Basic Medical Science New Scholar Award is an award established by the Korean Medical Association to foster specialists in basic medical science and to promote balanced qualitative improvement in medical education through the development of basic medical research.
Professor Lee was selected for the paper titled "Age Estimation Using Convolutional Neural Networks Based on Postmortem 3D Computed Tomography of the Mandible and Femur."
Through the paper, deep learning was used to evaluate 3D scans of the mandible and femur taken postmortem, proposing an automated age estimation method.
